Advanced technologies and special processes for aerospace and energy
ATLA is a highly specialized Italian company operating in the aerospace and energy sectors, providing repair, manufacturing and engineering processes for aircraft engine and gas turbine components. Thanks to well-established expertise in special processes and advanced machining technologies, it supports international customers throughout the entire life cycle of their systems, helping to improve their reliability, performance and sustainability.
The company stands out for its strong technological and industrial focus, supported by Research & Development activities aimed at process innovation, the development of new production capabilities and the introduction of digital solutions. Innovation is a central element of the company's strategy, with the goal of maintaining high-quality standards and responding to the challenges of highly regulated and competitive markets.
ATLA's strength lies in the combination of technical know-how, industrial experience, a high level of innovation and the ability to adapt to customers' specific needs. Working on components with high technological content and subject to extremely strict quality, safety and certification requirements, the company has developed over time distinctive capabilities that are difficult to replicate.
It is precisely this specialisation that led ATLA to embark on a transformation journey aimed at making the most of its corporate knowledge base, supporting generational turnover and accelerating the digitalisation of its processes. The goal is to make strategic data and information increasingly accessible, while preserving the know-how that represents one of the company's main assets.
We often see ourselves as an exception: we do complex things, we're a niche company and we work in a sector populated by niche players.
The challenge: turning data into useful information for faster decisions
As the company grew and operational complexity increased, fast access to purchasing data and reporting became an increasingly strategic factor.
Before Compri was introduced, many analysis activities required manually extracting data from the company's ERP system and then processing it in Excel. For example, checking the price history of a component meant retrieving the orders, organizing them and analyzing them manually, taking several minutes for each individual assessment.
Reporting on company spend also required data aggregation and reprocessing before it could be shared with management, slowing down access to the information needed for operational and strategic decisions.
In a highly specialized environment such as ATLA's, people's time is a particularly valuable resource. Repetitive data collection and processing tasks took energy away from higher-value functions such as technical analysis, supplier management and continuous improvement.
Having up-to-date, easily accessible information therefore became a key element in supporting the company's growth and making decision-making more efficient.
The solution: simpler, more immediate information management
ATLA started from a need in the purchasing department, but adoption was driven by the R&D department and the innovation team, who introduced Compri and then extended its use to the other departments. Today the company mainly uses order management and monitoring (deadlines and delays), Price Intelligence to analyze component price trends, cost analysis by category from a budget perspective, and supplier management with total spend per supplier. Alongside these tools there is the AI assistant, which can be used to query the data in natural language.
On the price analysis front the contrast is stark: from 10-15 minutes of exports and reprocessing in Excel to a single click, with an instant chart of the trend — roughly ten times faster. The weekly spend report, which used to take the administration department several hours, is now generated with an automatic export or a question to the AI. The biggest obstacle was not technical but human: convincing people who were used to working 'in a certain way'. With the support of the Compri team, that resistance was overcome too.
Today I no longer look for products in the ERP: I find them directly on Compri, in a much simpler and more immediate way.
Who would you recommend Compri to
Even highly specialized companies can benefit from digital tools capable of adapting to complex processes and specific requirements.
Riccardo Mantoan would recommend Compri without hesitation and considers it suitable across the board, regardless of sector and size. He suggests it in particular to companies that, like ATLA, see themselves as 'an exception' — niche businesses, in specialist sectors, with complex processes built to measure over the years — and that for this reason believe they cannot adopt a standard tool. His experience proves the opposite: these organizations too can integrate with Compri, especially when they want to make the most of their people's know-how by redirecting it to higher value-added activities.
For Riccardo Mantoan, Compri's strength lies in its ease of use — clear, immediate dashboards — and in the ability to query data in natural language through the AI, which often suggests insights that would otherwise go unnoticed at a glance. But the main value is the saving in time and management effort: freeing experienced people from manual extractions and analyses so they can focus on higher value-added activities. Finally, the partnership approach matters: Compri is not an 'off-the-shelf' piece of software, but a supplier that has grown together with ATLA, building its features around the company's needs.
Anyone who thinks Compri isn't right for their company might change their mind: we were the classic exceptional case, and yet it worked.
The challenge
• Turning data spread across multiple sources into information that is easy to access and use
• Price analysis, spend monitoring and report preparation required manual work that limited how quickly data could be consulted and explored in depth
The results
• Immediate access to purchasing information
• Simpler monitoring of prices, orders and suppliers
• Reporting available in real time
• Faster analyses and greater support for decision-making
• Better use of people's skills thanks to the reduction of repetitive tasks
• Speed improvement x10
